Tracking

The GiPStech MDK offers two different approaches for sending the device's position to a remote server, each available through the following corresponding class:

  1. InstantTracker: sends positioning data in real-time for continuous tracking.
  2. DeferredTracker: collects positioning data into packets and sends them when an internet connection becomes available.

Instant Tracking

The GiPStech MDK includes an MQTT Client capable of sending real-time position updates to a remote Broker.

The Client automatically connects to the Broker when the location engine starts, whether through Building.startLocalization or Region.startLocalization, and disconnects when localization ends.

In the event of network issues, the Client automatically attempts to reconnect to the Broker.

Various aspects of this service can be configured using the InstantTracker.Options class. This service can be configured either:

  • Server-side by GiPStech, or
  • Application-side using the InstantTracker class.

Deferred Tracking

In addition to real-time tracking, the MDK also offers an offline tracking service.

This service can collect position updates, usage statistics, and user-generated events while offline and transmit them to a remote server once specific criteria are met.

Various aspects of this service can be configured using the DeferredTracking.Options class. This service can be configured either:

  • Server-side by GiPStech, or
  • Application-side using the DeferredTracker class.
